Sprint work and Yummy Chilli

It's Wednesday here in Nova Scotia....do you know what that means?  That means we are getting yet another snow storm...yes....another one!  20-25cm of the white stuff to land overnight.

Today I decided to go to the local indoor track.  I convinced another TTP member to go with me on an early morning run. 
The walkers were in the outside lane, leaving the runners on the inside 3 lanes running clockwise.  I wish you could switch up the directions to allow for even muscle use...but alas, it was not to be.  31.13 minutes and 5.4km later, we sat and watched some youth running it out.  It was nice to be able to run in shorts and to have the softer surface of the track.  Having said that, my groin and hamstrings on my right side are feeling really tight given the corners that are seen on a track.  We ran 800 meters as a warm up and then a 200m sprint, 400m recovery for a total of 5.4km.  I am disappointed that there isn't a way that my garmin would read my pace per lap...I've got to figure out how to measure my recovery versus sprint laps!  Next time!

With the snowy weather upon us, I felt a comfort meal was in order...chilli it is!  Totally hit the spot.

Darn it....the plow just went by...guess I'm heading out for the first shovel of the night.  I hope that wherever you are, that you are warm and snuggled in your house!  Thanks for dropping by to say hi midweek!

  1. I have a foot pod with my garmin so I can track my indoor running on either a treadmill or an indoor track. They're about $45, but you need to have one of garmin's that support the footpod technology (I have a Forerunner 210)

    1. Thanks for the info....I'm hoping to only do the track a couple of times to get me through winter...then will remain outside! Maybe next year I will invest in a foot pod!

  2. If possible I like to run my intervals on a straight stretch to avoid hanging tight corners.....the track nearly killed me last time when they didn't switch direction :0 I have stuff taken out for chilli tonight too.....weird how snow makes us want chilli...lol.

    1. I think I'd be okay if they just switched direction!

      Chilli just warms the insides so well on these cold nights!

  3. Last night I went to the indoor track for the first time. I gave up trying to determine my pace. I sorta kept track of the time per 400 metre. My training plan has the time that I should finish each interval so that's what I am shooting to do. I didn't try too hard to catch the signal either. Maybe it will work next time :) How big is that track? The one we were on was only 200 metres.

    1. This track is 200m...after a while I lost count of how many times I had gone around. I thought I'd get dizzy going in the same direction but it wasn't too bad.
