Frostbite 5 Miler Recap

So today was my first race of the season.  A 5-Miler, aka 8km!

Mother Nature graced us with amazing weather today.  It was sunny and +7 or so!  Hard to decide what to wear....I settled on capris, a long sleeve, with a tank underneath.  Turns out...I probably could have run in a t-shirt.  That is crazy in February!!!

There were approximately 25 members of the TTP that were registered to run this race!

The race kit pickup was well organized...the start was well organized/marked....and the course was well marked.  Well done race organizers!  The course was relatively hilly but I was ready for that.  I had run the course at the beginning of February so knew what I was in for.

My goal was to meet my July 8k of 48 minutes.  I started out feeling good...I was a bit ahead of my goal pace but knew the hills that came later on.  Wouldn't you know that everything came together today and I just kept feeling good for the entire run.  My splits broke down like this:

1 km = 6.03
2 km = 5.32
3 km = 5.51
4 km = 5.49
5 km = 5.32
6 km = 5.47
7 km = 5.36
8 km = 5.12 (whoa...where did this come from...LOL)

Total run = 8km in a time of 45.21....a PB by 3 minutes!  YAHOO!!!!!  Looks like the rolling hills that the group does are paying off.

Great job to all the TTP members...everyone had an amazing race!  Looking forward to the next one!!!
