So.....how do you like the new look of the blog site? I really wish there were a couple more options for centering things and adding pictures....but I won't complain....after all it is a free site. Here is a random picture from T's mom's garden.
Love how yellow this flower is |
Today had 14.4k on the schedule...Whoazers....that's a long way! I got up around 8am and gathered all the necessary gear, loaded on the fuel belt and garmin, and out the door I went. About 0.75k into the run I realized "Holy crap....I don't have my ipod!" What the heck was I going to do for 14.4k without music???? Then I remembered that I had downloaded the Bell app for my phone. I quickly found C100 and blared that over my phone speakers as I ran. I am worried that it used a bunch of my data, but it was an emergency....really it was!!
I decided that with the longer mileage, I would walk a few times during the run. I settled on walking for one minute at 3.5k, 7k, and 10.5k. It seemed to work as my pace kept fairly strong at around 6:15-6:20 the majority of the run. Then trouble struck. IT band pain started around 11km and I had to keep stopping to walk or stretch out the left leg. I did finish the last kilometer in a run and was happy I kept at it for the full 14.4k or 9 miles.
I did stop to take photos of the bridge construction....it will be exciting to see the progress they make over the next few weeks.
I immediately came home and filled up the pool as the weather is calling for sun and 26 degrees for the next 2 days. Monday is my last vacation day and I'm not sure what I'll be doing. Horseback riding, zip-lining, or just hanging by the pool? Oh...the choices!!!
Does anyone have advice for my blisters?
Do you use music on long runs?
Wow, love the new look! Tough luck about the feet, maybe you should run barefoot now! ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd no need for music during the run, running is it's own music!
Blog is looking good!
ReplyDeleteI've been running without music lately... Actually, ever since I got my garmin watch. I don't want to have to take my phone with me all the time. I'm thinking about getting a little ipod to clip on my shirt.
Out of your list of options, I'd choose zip-lining for sure!
Those are crazy blisters!
I honestly don't know what I'd do without music for the long runs. I can do a 5k without it...but any longer and I start going crazy just looking at my garmin!
DeleteKnee is hurting so will have to rest tomorrow. :-(
I am really digging the new look!
DeleteI think it may be time to call in the 'Second Skin' for those feet of yours. Have you tried that yet?
I am so sorry about your blisters!! I love to listen to music when I run, it really helps me focus and meditate!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristin. The blisters don't hurt which is a good thing and with another long run on Sunday I need to figure out how to discourage them! I almost had a mini panic attack when I didn't have my music with me on Sunday!
