Sunday Runday and Week #6 Recap

Good Morning Everyone!!

I was up bright and early this morning courtesy of Mr. Indy. :-)  For some reason he doesn't understand that I have only 2 days to sleep in and feels that as long as it is light outside, we need to be up.

I took advantage of the early morning and made yummy blueberry muffins.
They turned out well and don't contain a lot of sugar.

Healthy Blueberry Muffins
3/4 cup low fat milk
1/2 cup natural applesauce
1 egg
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup blueberries
  • Preheat over to 400 degrees F.  Line muffin pan.
  • Blend milk, applesauce, and egg in a small bowl and set aside.
  • Stir flours, sugar, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl.  Make a well and pour wet ingredients into the well.  Stir with a spoon just until the flour is moistened (batter will be lumpy).
  • Fold in blueberries.
  • Divide batter among muffin cups.  Bake until golden brown.  Regular size muffins bake 18-10minutes.  Immediately remove from pan.
As soon as they came out of the oven, I got dressed for my long run.  As I started out I was super chilly, but turning onto the trail, I knew I'd made the right choice with shorts and a tank.  I took my new iPhone in my new arm holder thingy as I knew I was taking this run at a very leisurely pace and thought I might take some pics.  Here are a few sights from along my route today:
The waterfall is usually just a trickle, but after the storm yesterday
all the lakes/rivers where SUPER high!
There were so many runners/walkers/bikers on the trail today enjoying a rain free day!  I ended up only running 9.2k when the schedule called for 9.6k because my knees started to hurt.  I`d rather ice and rehab with less mileage than to risk hurting them for good.  IBprofin and ice all day!!  Here is what my post run snack looked like:

I totally forgot to mention an exciting piece of my `yesterday`.  Friends of mine brought home a new puppy on Friday and I stopped by to see her....could she be any cuter?  I`m sure Indy and Sadie will have many fun runs together this summer!

Okay....to week #6 recap.

I ran all my scheduled runs of 6.4k (Tuesday & Thursday), and then the 9.6 (well...9.2) today.  I also stuck in the 2k on Wednesday and the 5k race last night for Soul Sisters.  This is the most running I`ve ever done in one week...I`m sure of it!  That probably explains the knee pain today.  I`m glad that I have room in my schedule for week repeats or ITB pain.  I will slow it down next week and make sure I do lots of stretching!

Hope everyone has a fantastic Sunday!!
