Hyundai Hockey Nation & Ripped in 30

First off....let me say Happy Weekend to everyone!!!!  As usual, mother nature has thrown yet another storm at us.  This one combined snow, freezing rain, rain, and wind.  This meant the snow was EXTREMELY heavy at the end of my driveway.  Thankfully a neighbour felt pitty on me and cleared the end of the driveway with his snow blower.  Let's turn this storm into positive....I'm going to have great biceps come spring!

After shovelling the driveway for 1/2 an hour, I came in and pulled out the Jillian Michael's DVD "Ripped in 30".  A member of the TTP recommended it back in the fall and this is the first time I'm getting to it.  I'm sure you won't be surprised when I say she kicked my butt!  I have not sweat like that even when running a 10k in the middle of summer.  For those who aren't familiar with her plan, you do 3 minutes weights, 2 minutes cardio, and 1 minute abs.  Repeat 3 times with all different moves.  Love her or hate her, she knows her stuff and how to motivate you to continue!  Day #1 or Week #1 is complete!

Yesterday I was fortunate enough to work with a great motivator/trainer and with the tour Hyundai Hockey Nation.  For those of you that aren't familiar with this tour, Hyundai travels across the nation and offers free on-ice and off-ice training to young hockey players.  Gaetan and I were off-ice training yesterday with 5 different groups of kids ranging in ages of 8-12 (I think).  I learnt a lot watching Gaetan work with the kids....it certainly is different from coaching gymnastics in terms of how hard you can push the kids.  LOL.  We only had them for 45 minutes, but can certainly instill a lot in that time.  Gaetan explained that for most of them, this was probably their first session of land training.  The players did more pushups yesterday than they probably have all year...and mountain climbers...gosh...I felt bad for them and was glad I was not doing them with them.  By the end, I was jumping in and pushing them just as hard.  Gaetan and I rocked it.  It's kind of weird to have a CBC camera in your face as you're telling the kids to jump higher, push longer, and not to quit!

I have my fathers chicken legs!

Today as I was doing the JM DVD, I wanted to quit...but I remembered yesterday...and the kids....and I did not!!

I know I'm jumping from day to day, but when I was doing the DVD, Jillian said something that stuck with me.  Each of our journey's is not a single destination, it is a process that we need to show up for EVERY DAY!  It doesn't matter if it's perfect, just SHOW UP!!!!  I think we put too much pressure on ourselves to do it perfect or not at all.  Let's ease up a bit and just show up.  If you can't do it all...be it running or crossfit or swimming, just show up and do what you can!!!  I guarantee you'll feel better by doing a little than none at all!!!!!

And just because I know you love seeing what I eat...LOL...here was supper last night and Valentine's Day.

Roasted vegetables have really become a favorite of mine.  Here you see carrots, sweet potato, acorn squash, broccoli, and green pepper tossed with EVOO and vegetable spice.  So easy and so healthy.  I served it with a large spoonful of couscous and devoured it!  PS....I just love the colors!!!

Thanks for stopping by Runner Girl....and remember to challenge your limits this coming week by doing one thing that gets you out of your comfort zone!!!

  1. I'm sooo intimidated by the Jillian Michaels programs. I know they give killer results, though!
