Let's talk about U-R-I-N-E

Yesterday was a big day for me.  I was a presenter at Sole Sisters 5k Workshops with a workshop called "Holy *Beep* I registered...now what?"  My presentation focused on creating a mantra and then a hands on exercise for taking steps to reach a goal.  There were fewer ladies in attendance than registered and the HORRIBLE weather probably had something to do with that.  The ladies that did attend were amazing...they shared their stories with all of us...and gave us tears and made us laugh.  At the end, a few ladies even came up and gave me a hug.....I'd call that a SUCCESS!!!
The workshop that was presented right before mine was held by a Nutritionist.  I took a couple pieces of information away with me that I'm going to share with you.

#1 Whole Wheat bread is better for you than 12 Grain or Multi-Grain.  I always thought the more grains, the better.  Assumptions are BAD!  The 12 grain is actually a mixture of multiple grains that have been processed in some way.  The Whole Wheat is a non-processed grain and therefore better for you.

#2 Hydration is SUPER important.  Yes....we all know that already.  But how much is too much??
The pee on the far left is TOO much.  If your urine is pure in color, you have over hydrated (which is just as dangerous as under hydration).  At this level, your electrolytes are now shedding your body.  If your pee is the color on the far right, you are under hydrated.  One pee of this color, first thing in the morning, is okay.  Your pee may remain this color if you have too much vitamin B in your body as well.  If this is the case, you may want to think of reducing your vitamin B intake as you are flushing it down the toilet.  We want our pee to be the color of straw....the middle color.  This lets us know that we are properly hydrating ourselves during the day.

I've enjoyed a weekend full of workshops.  There is always more that I can learn about fitness and attending these types of events allows me to meet other fitness professionals and like minded individuals.

I will leave you with a video that I showed at the end of my presentation yesterday.  Remember that you can reach your goals.  I want you to stand on your tippy toes....reach way up in the air...this is where your dreams are....grab those dreams and pull them into your chest!!  You can make those dreams come true...you just need to have a plan and take the first step!!!

  1. I love those photos of you doing your presentation! You look so great and professional! :)

I remember I was taking some sort of supplement once that had Vit B in it (maybe after giving birth?? thats really the only time I ever took anything like that) and it made my pee green. I was so grossed out I stopped taking it. LOL

  2. That's really cool that you do presentations. I suck at public speaking! Thanks for the pee pictures. I am usually at one extreme to the other! Ha ha

    1. I'm usually dehydrated. I drink a tea in the morning...and then nothing the rest of the day. I know...I heard the gasp in your voice!
