Last night I tried a new form of physiotherapy known as cupping, or medically known as myofascial decompression. What is cupping you ask? It's a silicone suction cup that is placed on the tight area and suctioned to 'break up' the affected area. By using suction and negative pressure, cupping therapy facilitates lymphatic drainage, draining excess fluids, toxins, loosening adhesions, lifting connective tissue, bringing blood flow to stagnant skin and muscles and stimulating the peripheral nervous system. A warning should be given....it HURTS!!!
And when I woke up this morning, the bruising had set in. I anticipate that it is going to get worse over the next few days but am hoping the pain is worth it. This is less than 12 hours later.
I can still feel the tightness but need to continue my daily exercises and strengthening moves! Someone today said to me that I need to make the exercises part of my run...instead of breaking it up into separate components.
I'm off to visit the Opitimze Health Expo and can't wait to post about all the fun things I do!!!!! Stay tuned.
I pretty much saw everything on the bingo card this week....most of them today since I ran in daylight. Does capris count? LOL. Those bruises look like nasty town!!!
ReplyDeleteThe bruise is worse today....I'm hoping it was worth it. LOL You need to post Bingo on the group site...then you win a prize. :-)
DeleteI used to have cupping done on my back for migraines, along with acupuncture. It worked SO well. I loved it!! It looked like I had alien bruises going down my spine though.
