I picked Heather up at 6:30 (and she was ready and waiting) and then we picked up Christie at 6:45. It was CHILLY...with a capital C. I mean teeth chattering, scrap the car windows chilly!
The drive to the Valley was beautiful. The leaves are at the perfect stage of color change with bright reds, yellows, and oranges!
We arrived in plenty of time, found parking, and ventured inside to use the facilities. As we were walking across the parking lot, a
That's Heathers fingers...It was also in my hair! |
I do enjoy this 5k route as it is along the dykes in Wolfville...a beautiful route. I had a HORRIBLE race, the worst of the season in fact. I went out too fast, as my garmin shut off on me, and ended up with a horrible stitch. I ran through it as much as I could but ending up having to walk at about 3.5k and 4.5k. Plus my knee started to twinge....and once I had walked, I knew there was no use pushing it for a PB, so I slowed down. Christie had a fantastic race and I'm proud of her for running and meeting her goal. Heather simply had racers envy as she was only cheering today.

JC killed her training times! Knew she could do it! |
And check out the swag from this years run...a jacket, a blanket, and a fantastic medal.
Oh and check out this finishing video that Heather so nicely shot....like I said...I had given up at this point.I'm off to have turkey dinner with a ham dinner to follow tomorrow. Good think I ran today! Take a moment and be thankful this weekend!!!
Well I'm thankful for you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me tag along, ;) You know where I live if you have too much ham left over. :D
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your race!!!
Happy Thanksgiving :)
Hahaha oh no! What an awful way to start a race!! But on the bright side it made for the best race recap post title, possibly ever? So at least there's that :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really sorry to hear that the race didn't go well for you - I think there must be some sort of valley jinx on Garmin's though, because mine stopped working too!
Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Great job on the race! :-)
ReplyDeleteJust came across your blog and wanted to say hi to a fellow Canadian :) (found you through Heather's blog). Gah, I've never been pooped on and not sure I want it to ever happen to me! That's awesome that you received a medal for a 5k!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by! I was never pooped on before either...and everyone told me it was good luck...it was not for me.
