Happy Father's Day and Long Run Sunday

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there!

Well I climbed back on the wagon....sort of.   Did I do arms/abs?  Nope.  But I did run.

Yesterday I ran 5.85k.  My first run since last Sunday when my ITB was acting up so I took it easy at a 6.10 pace.  It was a beautiful day here in Halifax and my body seems to thrive running in the heat.

Today was my long run...a scheduled 9.6k.  I rounded it up and made it 10.  It wasn't pretty. In fact I had to walk several times due to a nagging side stitch and blisters that developed on my feet.  But I got 'er done and can say my first 10k of the season has been run!  Next week the mileage jumps up with 7.2k during the week and 11 on Sunday.

This is my new post run, or sitting on the deck, snack that I am in love with!!!  So refreshing and yummy!

As I'm relaxing I get this amazing text from Heather and Matt who were running the Johnny Miles Marathon today....Heather WON 1st place female!  She rocked it!  I almost said 'told you so' as she was very worried yesterday that she wouldn't finish.  Silly girl!!

K....I'm off to plant sod, but feel like I'm back on track.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great week at work!!!

  1. OMG, nice job, Heather! Awesome!

It feels good to get back on track, eh? I get blisters almost every time I run... on my second toe, where my big toe rubs on it with every step. I think a few walk breaks are ok! Nice work!

  2. Great job on the 10k! Vaseline worked very well today for me...no blisters or blood! :D I just ended up with a few 'hot spots' on the bottom of my feet from pounding asphalt for almost 4 hrs! LOL.
