Adding it all Up!

So they (whoever they are) say that running is a relatively cheap sport...all you need is a good pair of running shoes!

Well....I'm kind of here to argue.  What they say is correct....you only really NEED a good pair of running shoes....but what about wants.  LOL  As a girl runner, we all know that when we look the part, we totally run better!  Come on female readers....I know you agree with me.

Having said that, I went to Lulu today to spend a Christmas gift certificate.  I, of course, walked away spending more than the gift certificate and that got me to thinking....I wonder how much running gear I actually have.  The type A that I am, I decided to organize and count it.  LOL.  Here is the evidence!

8 shorts
6 capris
5 tights
8 long sleeve shirts
6 race shirts - this surprised me
6 tech shirts
2 running skirts
12 tanks (pink outnumbers the other colors)
4 pairs compression socks
2 compression calf sleeves
3 sports bras
and apparently 2 doggies

Of course running shoes need to be included:
vibrams 5 fingers - short runs, concentrate on form
New Balance minimalist - runs under 5k
Kinvara 3's
North Face - for longer runs
Kinvara 4's
New Balance 1400's

I challenge each of you to go through your gear.  Do you keep your race shirts???  Do you wear them again??

  1. Challenge...accepted! :). nice collection. I have to count up my gear but I wrote a blog post about my shoes and I was up to 33 pairs in my possession after having given away or thrown out close to 20. :)

  2. I love the colours! I have a lot of very ugly race shirts that I will never, ever wear again. I recently purged a bunch of them! Love your shoe collection!

  3. Most of my running stuff came from Frenchy's or inexpensive places like superstore and Old Navy (and one or 2 lulu items I bought second hand). I have only 2 pairs of full-length tights, and one pair of fleece running pants. A few tank tops, one or 2 tech shirts that I bought, 2 or 3 skirts, and 3 long sleeved shirts. Maybe 4 pairs of capris, but only 2 are comfortable to wear while running. Not sure how many pairs of shorts I have. I have to go through it all because I bought a lot of it at Frenchy's when i first started running... since then I've accumulated stuff that is beter quality, a better fit, or that i just like better.

As for race shirts, I have a few that I really like (last years PEI, the runway run I did last year, etc) but most of them have big giant logos on the front that are made of that iron on stuff, and when i wear them running, that area gets sweaty and sticks to me. LOL

Now you have my curious, and I want to know actual numbers!

    1. Hehe....I knew you would. I have quite a bit of old navy stuff as well. Once you start running, I find people just know that gift certificates to lulu or running room are easy gifts. There is a lulu exchange facebook page that you should jump on...you might find some stuff on there as well.

    1. Kimmie...a quilt is a great idea...it will take me a while to save up enough shirts I think. LOL

Thanks for the nomination....I have passed it onto others to spread the love.

  5. Oh my gosh, you weren't kidding!!! I wonder if I compared my race shirts from my purchased shirts, which I'd have more of at this point!!

    1. For some reason I thought I'd have more race shirts...but then realized that some of the races I do don't give shirts...which would explain only having 6.

  6. Nice stash! I keep mine in a dresser in our guest room, which is now bursting full. :S I donated a big recycling bag of clothes/gear/race tees in December and still can't find the dent gone.
